I am feeling settled in the new studio. Working so close to home has freed up so much time, I hardly know myself. My two minute commute has changed everything. Remy doesn’t come to work as often now until he learns how to behave with clients. I think he’s misunderstood. Training is on the cards but until then he will be spending a little more time at home with Paddy. I found these pictures of him from last summer. Remember how summer feels?
There has been much flowering lately. Some flowers were for royalty visiting the North East. Some were for weddings.
And then there was magnolia. Naked branches with buds that after three weeks finally started to burst open.
It joins the list of things I would never promise to a bride, given it’s reluctance to open. This is a flower that will not be rushed and the thought of timing it’s bloom down to a specific day makes me feel nervous. But I will always buy it when I see it and keep my fingers crossed that someone will enjoy it as much as I do.
The witch hazel has also made an appearance but nothing brought me quite as much happiness as the return of spiraea. Cheap, no. Beautiful, yes. It was royalty after all.
